No Salvatorberg, em Aachen, um lugar muito especial para mim, nasceu esta improvisação que chamei de “barquinho”. Minha irmã fez essas imagens lindas enquanto eu começava apenas com um pequeno motivo no violão. Quando a música chegou a um ponto mais intenso, senti vontade de deixar algumas palavras surgirem também, e foi assim que “barquinho” ganhou forma, só com voz e violão. Como toda improvisação, essa canção não segue necessariamente uma lógica fixa. Para mim, porém, ela fala sobre as coisas que buscamos para nos sentirmos seguros: uma casa, uma família, uma carreira e tantos outros sonhos. O pequeno barco aparece como uma imagem de movimento e descoberta, da vontade de atravessar águas desconhecidas, conhecer outras ilhas e outros continentes. No fundo, todos fazemos parte de um barco muito maior: a Terra. Ao longo da vida, dividimos alguns trechos da viagem com outras pessoas. Às vezes alguém visita o nosso barco, às vezes somos convidados a entrar no barco de alguém. Criamos vínculos, compartilhamos caminhos e seguimos adiante, sabendo que estamos todos aqui apenas de passagem e que, apesar de tudo, navegamos sobre águas que nunca controlamos por completo. Um agradecimento enorme à minha irmã por essas gravações e ao Lousberg e Salvatorberg, lugares que tantas vezes já me inspiraram a criar. My sister captured these beautiful images while I began with nothing more than a small guitar motif. When the music reached a more intense point, I felt the urge to let words emerge as well, and that is how “barquinho” slowly took shape, with just voice and guitar. Like every improvisation, this piece does not necessarily follow a fixed logic. For me, though, it speaks about the things we pursue in search of safety: a home, a family, a career, and so many other dreams. The little boat becomes an image of movement and discovery, of wanting to cross unfamiliar waters and explore other islands and continents. At the same time, we are all part of a much larger vessel: the Earth. Throughout life, we share parts of the journey with different people. Sometimes someone visits our boat, sometimes we are invited onto theirs. We create connections, travel alongside one another for a while, and continue on, knowing that we are all only passing through and that we are sailing waters we can never fully control. A huge thank you to my sister for these wonderful recordings, and to the Lousberg and Salvatorberg, places that have inspired my art so many times.
