Two weeks after the car accident involving Sara Carreira, who would later die as a result of the accident, and Ivo Lucas, there are several versions of the incident. However, TV 7 Dias spoke with the first person who came to the couple's aid on the fateful day of December 5th, at 7 pm. This is Joaquim, a firefighter who lives and works in Alentejo. The firefighter was with his girlfriend. They were traveling from Santarém to their home when they came across the accident, which had just happened, at kilometer 61 of the A1 highway, near the Cartaxo exit. Upon passing the couple's car, they both stopped their vehicle to help Ivo Lucas, who had already gotten out of the Range Rover Evoque on his own. “When we arrived at Ivo's car, he was near the median, shirtless. He was shirtless, shivering from the cold, and when we talked to him, he was disoriented. He said it was all a dream that was happening to him,” he begins, also noticing “that he had a broken wrist and not an open fracture, as they said. Then I started to see his face turning black, perhaps from some kind of impact, because the car must have rolled over several times.” Upon learning that there was a second person inside the vehicle, the firefighter immediately called the emergency line so that rescue services could be activated and first aid could be provided. Ivo was then taken to the couple's car. “We took the young man to our car, and I gave him my jacket and turned on the car's heater. My girlfriend stayed with him in our car while I provided assistance to the young woman who was in the crashed car,” he recalls, adding that, in the meantime, a couple of veterinarians were already with the young woman. Joaquim clarifies that the 21-year-old woman was wearing her seatbelt and that it was only removed after authorization. "I was on the phone for 14 minutes," he adds. Meanwhile, another doctor joined the firefighter, who was also traveling. "Ivo kept asking about his girlfriend, and we only told him that she was in critical condition but was being evaluated," he continues, explaining that "he didn't even know exactly what had happened to her. He said he was dreaming and talked about a friend who died in an accident two years ago and that his sister's birthday was the next day." Concerned about Sara Carreira, the actor repeatedly asked about his girlfriend's condition, and no one at the scene realized that it was Tony Carreira's daughter. "Only some time later did Ivo tell us that his girlfriend was from a very well-known family (...) At the time, I even thought it might be Bárbara Bandeira, but later, through the victim's identification, we saw who it was." Joaquim did not witness the accident, but claims to have arrived at the scene moments after it occurred. Speaking to TV 7 Dias, the firefighter recounts that, at the time, “it wasn’t raining torrentially, nor was there fog. It was very dark and it was hot.”
