Bollywood Haunted Mill (Om Shanti Om Movie Ghost)
#Horror #India #podcast In October 2007, Farah Khan shot the climax of Om Shanti Om inside a burnt-out ruin in Colaba. Deepika Padukone's Shantipriya screamed inside a burning film set while the roof caved in — one of the most iconic scenes in Hindi cinema. What the audience never knew is that the floor she was standing on had already burned once. With real people on it. That building is Mukesh Mills. This is not a ghost story. This is a documentary. We trace the full 150-year history of the place — from 1870, when Mulji Bhai Madhvani made the "crazy" decision to build a cotton mill in Colaba, a peninsula surrounded by sea on three sides, and solved it with a private dock and total vertical integration. Through World War I contracts that doubled the mill's footprint with no planning. Through the Great Bombay Textile Strike of 1928–29. Through World War II, when bomb shelters, basements and tunnels were dug into a structure that was never designed for them — turning a simple rectangle into a maze. Then the golden era. 50 acres. Spinning, weaving, ginning, storage. Noise so loud that workers invented their own sign language. Nearly a thousand people living inside the compound with their wives and children, a school for the kids, families born and buried on the same land. And one section built differently from all the rest: the colour dyeing block. Small windows. Heavy doors. Sealed so chemical fumes couldn't escape. That safety measure became a death trap. In 1982, in a year no one can agree on a date for, the mill burned. The registers burned with it. The attendance sheets, gate logs and shift rosters that any investigator would need — all gone. Management claimed 10 to 20 dead. Workers rejected it. Unofficial estimates run to 50, 75, 100, some say over 150. Most of the dead were migrants from UP, Bihar and Andhra whose names existed only in a register that no longer exists. The fire burned for hours. It stopped only when there was nothing left to burn. And then the ruin refused to die. It became a film set. In this documentary we cover: the 2003 Footpath shoot and why Bipasha Basu walked off set, removed her makeup and left without an explanation — and why Subhash Ghai's production quietly changed locations instead of raising hell. The pandit on that set. Kamya Punjabi's counselling. The 10-year-old child actor who rolled across the floor on camera with no direction. Riteish Deshmukh and Varun Dhawan's shared rule: wrap before sunset, always. And Gaurav Tiwari. India's most trusted paranormal investigator, the man who put Mukesh Mills on the national map. The EVP recording of a woman's voice in Hindi that GRIP still has in its archive. The K2 spikes in the dyeing section that answered questions. Thermal drops of 10–12 degrees with no airflow. Professional equipment that failed, again and again, in only one building in India. Gaurav ranked Mukesh Mills as the most paranormally active site in the country — second only to Bhangarh. And in 2016 he died of asphyxiation, weeks after telling his family that something had followed him home. Then the YouTubers came. The live stream that ended at minute 42. The couple in 2022 where the girlfriend lost thirty minutes of her life and could not remember walking in. The Red Bull scouting team in 2025 that lost a crew member for three hours and found her sitting in the corner of the dyeing section — and quietly cancelled the location, citing "logistical concerns." The BMC banned entry in 2019. The ban exists on paper. People still go in every single week. So — is Mukesh Mills actually haunted? I give you three answers in this video. The third one is the one I want you to think about. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 00:00 Om Shanti Om — And The Floor Deepika Stood On 02:55 This Is Not A Horror Story.
