CLEETHORPES CANCELLED… So We Headed To MARYPORT & Found SMOOTHHOUNDS! 🎣

After our original plans to fish Cleethorpes were scuppered due to access issues, we made a last-minute decision to head over to Maryport instead. What a decision that turned out to be! Fishing fresh peeler crab, squid and mackerel baits, we found plenty of action with rays, dogfish and, most importantly, smoothhounds. The hounds were clearly feeding, with several fish landed including a cracking 6.2lb fish for Matty and two hounds for myself. It just goes to show that sometimes a change of plan can save a session. From packing the van for Cleethorpes to ending up on the Cumbrian coast chasing hounds, this trip had a bit of everything.
