Villa Tugendhat (english version)

Villa Tugendhat Mies Van Der Rohe. 1930 As a wedding gift, the parents of Greta and Fritz Tugendhat present the young couple with a piece of land, located near Brno, in what is now the Czech Republic. The couple commissioned the architect Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, who, at the time, was finalizing details for the German Pavilion at the Barcelona Exposition, to carry out the project. With an unlimited budget from the client, this housing project represents the opportunity for the German architect to put his architectural and design ideas into practice. The Villa Tugendhat, built between 1929 and 1930, will provide a combination of the use of the open plan with more restricted spaces, within a domestic use.
