Why Most Filmmakers Get Stuck (And How to Break Through)
Filmmaking is a career without a clear roadmap. There’s no set path to follow - and that can be both liberating and frustrating. So how do you actually grow if you aren't getting the projects you want? In this video, I share my own filmmaking journey - from making a full-time living, starting out filming weddings and real estate, to quitting those jobs and pushing into documentary, branded content, and commercial work. But once again Im at a turning point and am now starting the push towards bigger commercial and documentary projects - and I want to share this journey and the steps Im taking. I also talk about: Why so many filmmakers hit a plateau in their careers The importance of personal projects and a DIY work ethic The “evolve or die” mindset you need to break through How I’m keeping myself accountable to keep levelling up Chapters: 0:00 - 0:58 - Intro 0:58 - 5:33 - Filmmakers Plateau 5:33 - 10:06 - My Journey 10:06 - 11:33 - Shifting from Weddings and Real Estate 11:33 - 14:17 - My next goal shift 14:17 - 15:56 - Current state of the industry 15:56 - 17:17 - Breaking the cycle 17:17 - 21:05 - DIY
