Quarterback Drill (Video 6): Pocket Presence, "Throwing in the Trees"
We call this "Throwing in the Tress." This drill is a huge favorite of our QB's for multiple reasons. They enjoy using pop-up bags because they best symbolize an actual pocket they throw in during the game. Again, we started with just working around the bags. Then, we added processing by holding up numbers for them to yell out. Lastly, we have them escape the bags: frontside dip'n'rip, backside dip'n'rip, reverse out, vertical escape, based on their partner's rush. This drill primarily focuses on our pocket presence. Quarterbacks feel the mayhem in the pocket while continuing to process what is going on downfield.
