Nick Blaine: A Violent and Dishonest Man?

Hi friends! Handmaid’s Tale Spoilers ahead (through Season 6, Episode 10): In response to the lines June speaks about Nick in the Series Finale, we wanted to put together a video SHOWING how Nick ACTUALLY spent his time in Gilead. Even before June’s arrival, Nick was working AGAINST the evil of Gilead. He became an Eye to punish the creator of the Handmaids system in retribution for the suicide of the Waterford’s first handmaid and he was clearly supplying Beth and the Jezebel (Mayday) Martha’s with the black market goods they requested for some period of time before June came along as well. In Season 2 Nick of course helped June escape twice - as well as condemning himself to a child wife when he asked Serena for a mental health doctor for a clearly struggling June. He was even busier doing good in Season 2 though - saving the Jezebels letters that June had tried to destroy and smuggling them into Canada was extraordinarily dangerous and effectively ended Canada’s trade negotiations with the Waterfords and Gilead. Throughout all the seasons, Nick was instrumental in taking out the most vile of the commanders in Gilead - Guthrie, Cushing, Waterford, AND Putnam. And he of course spent most of his time aiding and abetting Gilead’s Number One Enemy, and keeping her safe. Or getting information about her daughter for her, even when he thought he would never see her again. And he not only kept June safe but, in this final season, despite telling her the danger involved in him doing so, Nick risked his own life to save her husband’s and best friend’s. An act that started a chain of events that ultimately, unbelievably, led to June herself condemning Nick to a violent and unnecessary death. Anyway, here’s a video of who Nick really was in Gilead - a loving man with a good heart that never received the love he deserved in return.
