FULL SPEECH: Trump speaks at General Motors, touts bringing back domestic car manufacturing

President Donald Trump in Michigan Monday, speaking at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, seeking to present a positive message on manufacturing. White House spokesperson Luz Huston said Trump is delivering on his promise to bring manufacturing back to America and rebuild the auto industry. "The President pledged to put Michigan workers back to work, and he’s doing it," she said. "Under President Trump’s America First agenda, American automakers are investing, hiring, and expanding at a pace not seen in decades." The White House touting Trump's work on the Working Families Tax Cuts, elimination of taxes on tips and overtime. Trump himself told those gathered that since he returned to office, Michigan has secured billions in investment, creating thousands of jobs. "Michigan finally has a president who stands up for Michigan auto workers and puts America first," Trump said. Trump also seeking to show a contrast between what he has done and what was done by his predecessor, former President Joe Biden. “In four years they had investment of less than $1 trillion, four years, less than $1 trillion," he said. "In one year, my administration secured commitments of more than $19.2 trillion from all over the globe.” The president further asserted that tariffs on foreign vehicles and vehicle parts are boosting Michigan's auto industry. "I'm proud to say that the auto industry is back and America is back, and it's pulling Detroit and Michigan along with it," Trump said. Multiple Republican Michigan politicians appeared before and while president spoke, including Michigan House Speaker, Rep. Matt Hall; former Congressman and Candidate for U.S. Senate, Mike Rogers; Congressman and Candidate for Governor, John James; and Congressman Tom Barrett.
