Route 66: Arriva London: DW201 (LJ09KRO) VDL DB300/ Wright Gemini 2DL

Now it's time for something a little different, here we have a yellow-poled VDL DB300, the first for Arriva of many to come. DW201 was new in 2009 as part of a bulk order comprising the first batch of VDL DB300 Wright Gemini 2DL integrals new to Arriva London, (not including Go Ahead's sole WDL1). The early 09-plate DW's were new to Clapton (CT) garage ostensibly for routes 38 & 242 displacing MA-class Citaro artics on the 38 and elderly DLA-class DAF DB250s. 2012 saw it have a spell at Wood Green (WN) garage mostly on route 141. The arrival of the LT-class Wright New Routemasters and HV-class Volvo B5LH Wright Gemini 3s saw the early DW-class head to Grays (GY) garage for use on routes 66 & 370, and then later the 103. Today's route in question is route 66 which runs from Leytonstone Station to Romford Station via Wanstead, Redbridge, Gants Hill, Newbury Park & Eastern Avenue. The route is another of those long-standing old route numbers, although it's original western terminus was Hornchurch, later changed to Harold Wood and replaced by the 296, now the 496. DW201 is powered by a Euro 4 Cummins ISBe 6-cylinder engine coupled to a Voith DIWA 5-speed automatic gearbox. So hope everyone enjoys!.
