A 71-year-old pensioner in Aktobe fell for the scammers and almost lost everything. The crooks kept the old man in fear for about a month. Finally, they took out a loan and forced him to sell his apartment. What's worse, he was unknowingly transferring money from other victims to his account abroad. It all started with a call from a person who introduced himself as an employee of Energosnab. From the moment he spoke the code that came to his phone, the pensioner was completely under the control of the scammers. Then the caller, pretending to be a bank and police officer, threatened him, saying, "A loan is being issued in your name," and "They are going to seize your apartment." The pensioner, completely terrified, took out a loan of 500 thousand tenge and transferred the money to his account. Later, the scammers forced him to sell his apartment. Thus, the elderly citizen lost all the property she had accumulated throughout her life. A criminal case has now been opened on the incident. When the scandal broke, experts intervened and the apartment sale deal was canceled. It is worth noting that since the beginning of the year, about 500 cases of cyber fraud have been registered in Aktobe.
