Son of Thunder: In Memory of Cal Swoager
During the 70's and early 80's Cal Swoager put up some of the first and most difficult climbs of his time at Seneca Rocks, Cooper's Rock, and the New River Gorge. He then abruptly left climbing to pursue a religious path. After 20+ years he returned to the climbing scene, got back in shape, and inspired a new generation of climbers in the Mid-Atlantic. Earlier this year he died in a climbing accident. This is a look at his climbing life as told by his friends and family.
