'Arbeter Froyen' - Daniel Kahn // 123rd Bund Yoyvl

Arbeter Froyen (Worker Women) is based on a poem "Tsu Arbeter Froyen" written by Dovid Edelshtat (1866-1892), published 1891 - which acted as an appeal to proletariat women to join the struggle. Detroit-born, Berlin-based singer/songwriter, polyglot poet, translator and activist Daniel Kahn, along with his band The Painted Bird presents a variety of passionate songs inspired in part by the struggles of Jewish revolutionaries at the turn of the century, and in part by his own intense desire for a better world. Daniel Kahn has featured many times in Bund celebrations - the Bund sponsored his tour down-unter and together with Psoy Korolenko - performed virtually (before it was a 'thing'!) at the Bund Yoyvl in 2017. This year our Yoyvl was, for the first time, conducted entirely online.
