In 1961, he won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Turkish Film Competition for "Gezlerin Ötesi" (Beyond the Nights). Kadir Savunma, who didn't appear in many films after the 1980s, almost gave up his acting career in the early 1990s because his health was deteriorating. He had lung cancer. He was forgotten and cast aside. But he had loving friends, like İbrahim Tatlıses, who didn't forget him. Because of his poor health and financial situation, a charity campaign was organized for him. İbrahim Tatlıses called everyone he knew, invited them, explained the situation, and many actors responded to this call for help. Perhaps this was a clearing of conscience, even if it was too late. Didn't we appreciate all decent, honest characters either in their final days or after they passed away? Didn't we say "he was a good man" and send them off? Didn't we close our doors to them when they were going through difficult times?
