The 2026 FIDE World Team Rapid and Blitz Championship will be held in Hong Kong, China, from June 17 to 21. Teams from all over the world are eligible to participate, ranging from club teams to national teams from various federations or associations. Teams must consist of a minimum of six and a maximum of nine players. A team must include at least one woman and one amateur—a player who was rated no higher than 2000 in FIDE Standard, Rapid, or Blitz (or was unrated) as of March 2026. A team must also have a captain, who may be one of the players. Each match is played on six boards. At least one woman and one amateur must be included in the match roster. The championship consists of two separate tournaments: rapid and blitz. The Rapid tournament will be held June 17–19. The format is a Swiss system, 12 rounds, with a time control of 15 minutes + 10 seconds per move from the first move. The Blitz competition will be held June 20–21: first, a round-robin group stage, followed by a playoff among the top 16 teams. The time control for the Blitz is 3 minutes + 2 seconds per move.
