Dodowa-Bletum Residents Battle Destructive Rainwater Erosion, Appeal for Urgent Drainage Intervention Following a heavy downpour on 20th May 2026, officials of Dodowa TV visited Dodowa-Bletum to assess the condition of residents after the rains. Upon arrival, it was observed that large volumes of rainwater were flowing through residential homes, behind buildings, and across properties, causing fear and destruction within the community. Further investigations by Dodowa TV traced the source of the water to runoff descending from nearby mountainous areas. Speaking in an interview, one of the affected residents expressed deep concern over the situation, explaining that the problem has worsened due to the absence of proper drainage systems within the Dodowa-Bletum area. According to her, the runoff water passes through a nearby area opposite the residence of the Shai-Osudoku District Chief Executive, where land grading activities were carried out and the place has gradually turned into a refuse dumping site. She stated that whenever there is a heavy rainfall, the water forcefully runs through their homes, weakening fence walls, buildings, and causing severe erosion within the community. The residents are therefore appealing to the Shai-Osudoku District Assembly and other relevant stakeholders to urgently intervene by constructing proper drainage systems to help address the recurring flooding and erosion challenges in the area.
