Find Answers in Slack With Claude Code (Read-Only · No MCP)

Looking for a Slack MCP setup? This is simpler. A read-only CLI that works without MCP configuration, and Claude Code can use it right away. In this video, I show how to set up a read-only Slack CLI called slacky so Claude Code can search your Slack workspace. I walk through two setup paths: a Slack app with OAuth (the recommended way) and a browser session import (the fallback). Then I search a pickleball Slack for paddle recommendations and have Claude Code turn the results into a Markdown note I can keep. The key: Claude Code reads Slack context but never posts anything back. You review the note before you trust it. Security note: any Slack tokens shown in the demo were invalidated after recording.
