Solo Spring Camping: Wood Stove, Fridge, and the Perfect Shoulder Season Setup
Join me for a quiet solo camping trip in the boreal forest. I set up my tent and get the wood stove going, preparing a simple yet hearty wood stove cooked meal . It's a peaceful outdoor camping experience by a marsh ,with beavers as neighbors, surrounded by snow and pine trees . For this trip i choose the One Tigris Tower M as my shelter ,along with all the available comforts ,woodstove ,fridge ,big chair ,cot, large table portable toilet and clear panels to enjoy the scenery .It's perfect for the shoulder season and it's ever changing weather ,nearly 20c in the afternoon and -2 in the morning . The only place i see it lacking is in warm ,rainy weather , the doors slant to the inside so using mesh doors would allow rain in the shelter , a tarp need to be used to cover the doors ,so it is relatively easy remedied .This is a problem with numerous tent . It a perfect size for two camping in comfort ,it would be my choice for an overlanding trip with Suzanne . It' not that long or difficult to set up ,easy to do alone if you follow the sewn in instructions in the bag . For basecamp camping it would be perfect ,providing a nice place to rest after a day of activities . It's opening this overland set up serie to show what level of comfort is available from a relatively simple set up ,sure ...you could add a battery powered A/C ,a diesel or propane heater ... but what are you willing to carry ? Where do you draw the line ? That set up is about maximum for me ,you are in a comfort bubble in nature , but not directly IN it . You see it but you are separated from it ... in the next episodes of this serie we will explore the boundaries from this to completely immersed in nature ,starting with two philosophically opposed set up we will evolve them to suit any weather or conditions and possibly various number of campers .
