Extremely Rare! Glorious Anneliese Rothenberger Sings "Quando me’n vo’" – Met 1965 with Tebaldi
From my personal archive I want to share with all of you one of the most extraordinary moments in Anneliese Rothenberger’s career: the legendary German soprano steals the show at the Metropolitan Opera on December 14, 1965, delivering a wonderful, unforgettable and incredibly expressive "Quando me’n vo’" (Musetta’s Waltz) from Puccini’s La Bohème. Rothenberger receives a huge ovation from the Met audience before the second act even ends — a rare occurrence when sharing the stage with two giants like Renata Tebaldi and Franco Corelli. At the end of the waltz, she joins in a beautiful duet with Renata Tebaldi (Mimì), while Franco Corelli (Rodolfo) is also featured in this legendary performance. Conductor: Fausto Cleva Metropolitan Opera House, New York – December 14, 1965 A true rarity and a masterclass in charm, elegance and vocal brilliance from Anneliese Rothenberger.
