Lake Fairlee LoonCam

Welcome to the fourth season of the Lake Fairlee LoonCam, sponsored by the Lake Fairlee Association and still the only looncam in Vermont! Damage to the cable last year cut short what began as a dramatic season beginning with footage of the "beaversaurus" ravaging the nest. Our loons were undaunted and produced two chicks last year, though only one survived to maturity. To prevent future disruptions due to wayward boat propellers, Sean Brown and Doug Tifft installed an all-new cable in a protected housing (garden hose), which should last for years to come. Highlights from our previous three seasons may be viewed on the Lake Fairlee Association website    / @lakefairleeassociation   The loon nesting raft itself will be launched by the end of April, marking 10 years of it being used to host a loon pair. The pair were first sighted this year on April 25 performing a lovely evening concert. Since 2016 the loons of Lake Fairlee have successfully added nine chicks to the Vermont loon population. A documentary about the Vermont Loon Conservation project, established in 1978, will be filmed this season and will feature footage of the Lake Fairlee loons and local volunteers.
