Rachmaninoff: Prelude in D major, Op. 23, No. 4 | Pianist: Heegan Lee Shzen 李胜
When it comes to Rachmaninoff, one may think - extreme virtuosity, highly trained technique that will be required, immense focus, blood, sweat and tears. And while that is all true, the master did write pieces that are within reach for advanced amateurs. Such is the case with this Prelude in D major, Op. 23, No. 4. While a high level of focus and natural passion for music is still definitely required, this pieces does not really present any difficulties from a technical standpoint. The lush melodic line in the right hand supported by quavers in triplet form in the left hand - a signature of Rachmaninoff, gives this pieces a very calming effect. The poetic magic of this prelude shows of the colourful dreamy effect through Rachmaninoff's typical genius style of writing, even in something simple, but yet with such profundity. A highly recommended piece to anyone who is starting to explore the works of the great Sergei Rachmaninoff. Hope everyone enjoys my interpretation of this masterpiece!
