Haute Route Ski Traverse: Chamonix to Zermatt | Variations & Full Journey

In this video we complete the classic Haute Route ski traverse from Chamonix to Zermatt — one of the most iconic multi-day ski mountaineering journeys in the Alps. Instead of following the standard itinerary, we chose several less common variations that made the traverse even more interesting and engaging: • Day 1: descent of the Vallée Blanche starting from the Aiguille du Midi • Day 2: start directly from the valley in Argentière • Grande Lui variant • Passage by Cabane FXB beneath the Grand Combin • Final extension from Zermatt: ascent from the village up to Punta Nordend These variations added both physical and technical depth to the traverse, offering different perspectives and a more continuous mountain experience. The Haute Route is never just about moving from hut to hut — it’s about decision-making, adapting to conditions, and managing energy over multiple days in a high alpine environment. This video captures the journey as it really happened: the terrain, the effort, the conditions, and the atmosphere of a long ski traverse across the Alps. A big thank you to David — not only for sharing this experience, but also for editing the entire video. We both filmed during the traverse, and he did an outstanding job bringing everything together. ➡️ Join my free Telegram channel 4000PRO for real insights from the mountains: conditions, decision-making, and technical tips from alpine ascents. 👉 https://www.rossiniguiding.com/4000pro If you enjoy real ski mountaineering and alpine traverses, feel free to subscribe for more content from the Alps.
