Eem dropped his debut project, N0wh3r3, in Feb 2019 & has also produced songs for the rapper, $NOT, including “STRANDED”, “Revenge”, & “Demanding”. At the end of March 2020, Eem dropped his viral hit, “AWKWARD FREESTYLE”, which quickly spread across TikTok, garnering over 11 million plays on Spotify alone. The music video for “IF YOU GO” has over 300k views in less than a month & his most recent single, “JUST FRIENDS ?”, dropped in early September 2022. During the interview, Eem talks about making beats & rapping since 2014, being influenced by the internet, and reveals his skincare routine. He lists some of his inspirations including Tyler the Creator, A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, & XXXtentacion. Eem asserts that Childish Gambino is in the top 5 most talented people ever, before talking about his YouTube “type beat” channel & growth hacks for YouTube videos. He explains why he stopped selling beats online but reveals that Yeat rapped on one of his Lucki type beats. Then they discuss Eem’s biggest song to date, “Awkward Freestyle”, and how he didn’t expect it to go viral since his drop before that, “Pimp Talk”, didn’t perform well. Eem says he thinks that having Kim Kardashian on the cover helped “Awkward Freestyle” go viral, & admits he cried when he saw Tyler show love to his song. Eem talks about his history with PNB Rock, who he says was one of the first big names to reach out to him. He then goes into detail about his friendship with $NOT & talks about being at the Lyrical Lemonade video shoot for $NOT’s song, “Revenge”, which Eem produced. He details his funniest memory involving $NOT and a dead bat, & reveals that he was present when Yeat facetimed some fans for the Channel 5 video. They close their conversation with Eem discussing his release strategy and why it’s effective, before offering advice to young creatives. Kids Take Over is based in Vancouver, Canada.
