1620 Wanders The Downs

The 1620 Class were introduced to the network in 1967. The Class leader, 1620 was placed in service with Queensland Rail on 4 January 1967 with Build Number A.138. 1620 was built at English Electric's plant in the Brisbane suburb of Rocklea. Queensland Rail restored the class leader 1620 for service and it operated various heritage services for a number of years until there was a issue with the decay of electrical wiring many years ago and was placed aside officially in 2021. Since then 1620 has been stored out of service and awaiting the wiring upgrade. This production follows a charter tour that originated in Brisbane, The production commences from Helidon in Lockyer Valley and follows the train up some of the Toowoomba Range then out on to the former Millmerran Branch to the current operating terminus of Brookstead. The journey then retraces its path back to Wyreema, the junction with the Southern line before heading south during twilight towards Warwick. Produced and Directed by Mike Condon.
