Laid Off at 30 in China | My First Days as a Stay-at-Home Dad

Yesterday, I lost my job. Today, I’m learning how to spend my days differently. In this video, I stay home with my two-year-old daughter in Fuzhou, China. We go out to buy a local breakfast in the 37°C summer heat, and I try to use some of my free time to improve my health. While my wife and daughter are resting, I go to the gym, clean the kitchen, take care of the house, and slowly begin adjusting to life as a stay-at-home dad. We originally planned to visit Sam’s Club that afternoon, but my wife had an extra piano lesson, so we went the next day instead. At Sam’s Club, we looked for something to help with our daughter’s mosquito bites, bought her a new water toy, and spent another ordinary day together as a family. Losing my job has made the future uncertain, but family life does not stop. I want to record what it is really like to be a father, a husband, and an ordinary person starting over at 30 in China.
