Three Decades of the Marlin 25 Rifles
The GLENFIELD MODEL 25 in this video is a 1975 production - The GLENFIELD MODEL 25 seems to have a different story being the first of the 25s. It appears that the Glenfield 25 first came out in 1971 replacing the Marlin Model 80. I've seen some dated up to 1976, but I don't know when production of this rifle actually stopped. Being that the Glenfield marketing name spanned from 1960 through 1983 The Glenfield 25 could have been produced in the mid to late 60's as I did come across some documentation of one not showing a serial number on it which would have meant it was produced prior to October 1968. I imagine that the Glenfield Model 25 was not produced after the early eighties where as the Marlin Model 25 came out in 1983 perhaps replacing the Glenfield 25. The Marlin Model 25 in this video is a 1984 production. The Marlin 25 is listed as being produced between 1983 to 2003 and was replaced in 2004 by the Marlin 925. On the 25 the mag release is part of the magazine. This makes the magazine a bit longer and is noticeable when viewed from the side. With the safety on the Marlin 25, the fire position is to the rear and safe is the forward position. The Marlin Model 25N in this video is a 1993 production. Around 1988 the Marlin 25N was introduced and had some minor changes to it. The safety was changed with the fire position being forward. Another notable change was the magazine and the release which is on the rifle. The 25N magazine is not interchangeable with the Marlin 25 magazine. Also the 25N magazine will only accept the .22 LR and will not feed the .22 Short or .22 Long. Another change to the 25N is a larger diameter trigger and sear springs compared to the Marlin 25. The 25N was also produced up until 2003 and then replaced with the Marlin 925.
