Reacting to SEVENTEEN's 1st Mini Album ‘17 CARAT’. There’s a youthful energy all over this mini album that makes it feel fresh, bright, and full of possibility. It’s short, but it already gives you a real introduction to who SEVENTEEN were trying to be from the very start: energetic, self-driven, performance-focused, and full of personality. You can hear the group figuring out their sound, but not in a way that feels unsure. It feels exciting. “Shining Diamond” opens the project with that debut declaration energy, “Adore U” brings the charm and youthful pop sound, “Ah Yeah” and “Jam Jam” give the project more hip-hop and performance color, and “20” closes things with a sweeter vocal-team moment. For a debut mini album, it does a really good job of showing different sides of the group without losing that early SEVENTEEN brightness. Overall, this was such a fun and important listen. 17 CARAT may be early SEVENTEEN, but you can already hear the spark. The charm, the teamwork, the unit colors, the performance energy, and the self-produced identity are all starting to show here.
