BMW iDrive does work with XTRONS Android screen

BMW X5/X6 Android / iPhone Qualcomm 662 Octa Core 8GB RAM & 128GB ROM QPB12X5CCP One note I am happy to inform is that XTRON contacted me straight away to confirm I selected the correct unit for my car. They asked to confirm I had a CCC Drive by sending them images of the iDrive screen and control knob. There are a few videos out there on how to install the XTRONS Android head unit but none that show a real good look at how iDrive interacts with the unit. Here I show you that all OEM iDrive functions are available, the OEM iDrive reversing camera with PDC sound and reversing lines work fine, the reversing camera is let down by the reversing camera’s low resolution but is clearer in the higher definition XTRON screen. I have the OEM AUX in my centre console, no issues there no need for the XTRONS AUX cable. Music/sound still works fine. The OEM iDrive navigation still works fine and still uses the OEM GPS aerial. The XTRON has GPS and Wi-Fi aerials to be installed which are only for use on the XTRON unit. The speaker that is in the XTRON wiring is for voice assistance while using Google or CarPlay navigation. I’m very happy with the unit which now gives my X5 E70 4.8 2008 an updated and somewhat a factory look and far better resolution monitor/screen (while in iDrive the XTRON is simply just a monitor if you haven’t worked that out). Cheers Gaz Top tip for the reversing camera to assist in the woeful camera resolution. Turn the camera reversing camera display down to 50%. You do this while in reverse then press the iDrive button, brightness slider will appear and then you adjust to your preference.
