This year's fair schedule: Bhandarpuri Dham Rajwada (October 6, 2022); Khapripuri Dham (October 5, 2022); Khadwapuri Dham (October 4, 5, and 6, 2022) On this day in 1820, Guru Balakdas, the second son of Guru Ghasidas Ji, the founder of the Satnami sect, was conferred the title of Raja by British Superintendent P. Vance Agnew, gifted him a sword, elephants, horses, and permission to hire bodyguards. Under Guru Balakdas's leadership, the number of Satnami followers in Chhattisgarh grew to over 300,000. He transformed the Satnami Jagran into the Satnami Movement and formed the Satnami Sena. When a famine struck Chhattisgarh in 1856, Guru Ji helped the people. Impressed by this, Veer Narayan Singh, the landlord of Sonakhan, also helped his subjects and took grain from the warehouse of Makhan Baniya, a moneylender in Kasdol, and distributed it among the people, for which he was arrested. In the 1857 riots, When the revolution started, Guru Balakdas helped Veer Narayan escape from Raipur jail and hid him in Gudhiyari Raipur, Bhandapuri with the help of Satnam Sena and also took him safely to Sonakhan. With the help of 200 Satnam Sena, Veer Narayan formed an army of 500 people and fought against the British and was hanged. Within two and a half years, Guru Balakdas was also killed in a conspiracy in 1860. Even today, due to lack of proper evaluation, his contribution has been forgotten from the pages of history. We have to remember him on this day and bring his contribution to the fore. Hence, many congratulations to all the countrymen and followers of Satnam on the 202nd year of Guru Balakdas's coronation.
