Sad modernization! Small swing-door Westinghouse/Eastern Elevator 1 – Wd4Condo,19,1 – Pittsburgh, PA

Recorded 07/01/2026 This is elevator 1 here. These are elevators I did not expect to get modernized. These were 2 very old and tiny Westinghouse elevators with 1-of-a-kind black buttons. Very sadly they recently got modernized by Eastern with Innovation Universal. They did car 2 on the other part of the building which started in April 2025 and passed inspection in Dec. (finished in September but failed inspection and took another 3 months to pass), and now they've done car 1, which is this car, which just entered-service. The swing-doors are still original with new interlocks and the car door now has a standard GAL operator. The cab's also still original. But the remaining mechanical components have all been updated, though the machine might be original. This must've been a pretty custom job as they must not have had a lot of space. It looks kind of cheap, especially with the stain-less steel. I think they should've done something more in-line with this historic building. This building was built in 1911, though the elevators might've been from slightly later.
