Bassist Christian McBride has performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival 16 times since 1994, and has played nearly every role an an artist can be for the jazz festival -- Artist-in-Residence (2008); Showcase Artist (2019); Commission Artist (2019); and a special guest artist and tribute master on multiple occasions. In 2018, A number of all-star musicians paid tribute to the late Ray Brown in a special presentation REMEMBERING RAY BROWN. Part of the program included a Ray Brown alumni trio with Benny Green, Christian, and Gregory Hutchinson, which was a highlight of the festival.
