My Eating Disorder Story Bulimia to Recovery and Becoming a Therapist | Food Freedom Journey

My relationship with food didn’t just become difficult, it completely took over my life. In this video, I’m sharing my personal story of how my relationship with food spiraled into anorexia and bulimia, and how I eventually found my way to recovery and became an eating disorder therapist. ➡️ I grew up in a world where sugar, custard creams, and food were part of everyday life, but underneath that, there were deeper emotional struggles, people pleasing, and a strong need to feel accepted. When I started dieting as a teenager, it quickly turned into something much bigger. What began as control slowly became a cycle of restriction, binge eating, and purging that lasted for years. I talk openly about how that period of my life really felt, the secrecy, the shame, and the disconnect, but also what actually helped me begin to heal. From reducing purging step by step, to learning regular eating, to building supportive relationships and shifting my identity, recovery wasn’t perfect or linear, but it was possible. I also share how those experiences led me to train as a therapist, and how my own journey now shapes the way I support others struggling with disordered eating, binge eating, and body image. If you’re dealing with food obsession, emotional eating, or feel stuck in a binge restrict cycle, I hope this gives you some reassurance that change can happen, even if it feels far away right now. 🌐 If you're looking for more support in your recovery journey, you can explore my work here: https://www.theeatingdisordertherapis... 💬 What part of my story did you relate to the most, and where are you in your own journey with food?
