Das "everything is a file"-Prinzip von UNIX wurde diesmal besonders konsequent durchgezogen, wodurch das System sehr minimalistisch und elegant wurde. Insbesondere Netzwerke und grafische Oberflächen machen sich die einzigartigen Möglichkeiten des Dateisystems zu Nutze.
