Violencia en CDMX: Dos ataques armados dejan heridos y un fallecido en Álvaro Obregón y GAM

Mexico City experienced a night and early morning marked by violence and insecurity, with two armed incidents shaking the boroughs of Álvaro Obregón and Gustavo A. Madero. These violent events have triggered a large police mobilization and are putting the capital's security strategy under intense scrutiny. The first incident occurred in the Álvaro Obregón borough, specifically in the Torres de Potrero neighborhood. On Avenida de los Tanques, in front of a taco stand, three people were shot by armed individuals. The crime scene was a scene of chaos, with shell casings scattered on the pavement and several parked vehicles damaged by bullet impacts. Emergency services and paramedics arrived at the scene to provide first aid to the victims, who were rushed to Enrique Cabrera Hospital in critical condition. Thanks to the swift intervention of the authorities, two alleged perpetrators were apprehended a few blocks from the scene of the crime. Shortly afterward, the violence shifted to the Gustavo A. Madero borough. On Acueducto de Guadalupe Avenue, a man was the target of a direct attack while driving his personal vehicle. The assailants intercepted the vehicle and fired repeatedly, leaving visible marks on both the windshield and the side window of the car. In a desperate attempt to save his life, the victim managed to get out of his vehicle and walk several meters seeking help at a nearby police station, located at the intersection with Insurgentes Avenue, in the Residencial Zacatenco neighborhood. Tragically, the man collapsed and died before medical personnel could intervene. The authorities' response in this second case was immediate thanks to monitoring via the C5 video surveillance cameras. The assailants attempted to flee, abandoning their vehicle in the Gabriel Hernández neighborhood, but were intercepted and arrested by police officers after a brief foot chase. The detainees, two men aged 33 and 42, have been turned over to the Public Prosecutor's Office, where their legal status will be determined in the coming hours. These events, which occurred while the city slept, serve as a constant reminder of the challenges facing public safety in Mexico City. The Attorney General's Office is currently conducting forensic investigations and removing the bodies at both locations. Citizens are demanding answers in the face of this wave of violence that knows no time or place and continues to leave mourning and worry in the capital's families.
