VIA Rail DETOURS in the Don Valley! [Fall 2024]
A couple weekend closures on the Metrolinx Kingston Subdivision forced VIA Rail intercity trains to take a detour over the CN York and MX Bala Subs to reach Toronto's Union Station from points east. On a pair of fall weekends in 2024, some friends and I caught several of these rerouted trains on rare mileage through the Don River Valley east of downtown (plus a bonus Amtrak heritage unit on the Maple Leaf). Enjoy!
