What makes the DRS-8 MkII unique is its design philosophy. The input stage is transformerless and ultra-clean, built for fast transient response and maximum headroom. The character comes from the output stage, where Phoenix Audio’s discrete Class A DSOP-2 circuit feeds a custom DB694 output transformer. Instead of saturating the input, the DRS-8 MkII lets you shape tone by driving the output stage, giving you full control over harmonic density, transient rounding, and musical saturation before A/D conversion.
