If you're looking for RV camping in Ocala National Forest, Salt Springs Recreation Area is one of the most unique campgrounds in Florida. In this video, we take you along as we explore Salt Springs Recreation Area campground, where you can swim in a 72-degree natural spring, boat out to Lake George (Florida’s second largest lake), and camp in the middle of the beautiful Ocala National Forest. Salt Springs is one of the largest natural springs in Florida, producing millions of gallons of water every day that flow into Salt Springs Run and eventually into Lake George. The slightly higher mineral content gives the water a faint salty taste — which is how the spring got its name. The campground itself offers full hookup RV sites with water, electric, and sewer, along with electric-only sites and a primitive camping area for tent campers. With wide one-way roads and paved sites, it's also a campground that many larger RVs can navigate comfortably. During our visit, we check out the campground, the spring swimming area, nearby trails like Bear Swamp Trail, and some of the convenient amenities nearby including restaurants, laundromat, and small local shops just outside the park.
