Friday, April 11, 2025: 5th tide. Rockfish fishing in the open sea on the Blue Fishing boat at Anheung Port. Sunny weather. The dreaded 5th tide was fast, making rockfish fishing difficult. Rockfish fishing is best from the main pier to the 3rd tide. The water needs to be clear for rockfish to bite. | If the water is murky, no matter how much you try to show off, you won't see rockfish. So what about night rockfish? Night vision? I'll address that in the next episode. After a kind phone call from the owner's wife asking me to arrive 30 minutes early, we departed around 12:00 PM and arrived at Anheung Port at 2:00 PM. The boat was originally scheduled to depart at 3:30 PM, but due to fog, it ended up departing at 4:00 PM. | Because of this, we couldn't catch a 5kg rockfish. Haha. When we arrived at the point, the sea fog was thick even near the open sea. We got a nice rockfish bite at the first point. Sometimes, the fish just stayed in the water with the regular sticks. What a surprise... My companions and I got off to a great start, enjoying a refreshing bite. A 5-inch and a mid-to-late 4-inch double. Today's catch. With a much more relaxed mind, I fished a few squid and a few squid, then the whole boat went silent. It wasn't until 1 p.m. that the bites started coming back. I used a 2.4-meter rod, a 60-step, 4-stage, No. 5 leader, and No. 20 bait, shortened to less than 7cm. I let the boat move, using what's known as "nupdeoyu" (squid fishing), and let the fish float along. With a big bite, I barely managed to bite the bottom-hook loach, and a handsome, thick black rockfish finished the day off with a spectacular catch. About 6kg of croaker, just enough to eat... I regret not being able to properly set up my tackle twice because I was busy filming with a group in the morning. I need to row when the tide comes in, but this is how difficult YouTuber fishing is. Still, I'm grateful to Yongwang for sending me a few sized ones that will please my viewers. Please bring decent gear when you go fishing for black rockfish. It's disheartening to see you fail and lose your catch. Sunken fishing requires thorough preparation in advance, depending on the gear, tide, and current of your preferred fishing spot.
