Annapurna Base Camp In Monsoon Season

Although this video may make the Annapurna Base Camp trek look like an incredible adventure through the Himalayas, it doesn’t fully capture the reality of what it was actually like. Attempting the trek alone apart from a few companions along the way during monsoon season turned out to be far more difficult than I had anticipated. The constant rain, endless climbs and unpredictable conditions made filming almost impossible at times, meaning much of the struggle never made it into the video. There were long stretches where I saw almost nobody for hours on end, leaving me to hike through remote forests and mountain trails completely alone. At one point, I unexpectedly came across a Himalayan black bear while walking with my headphones on ataround 6:30pm while it was getting dark and later in the trek, a bridge collapsed, forcing everyone to wait for hours while locals worked to repair it. The weather changed constantly, the paths became dangerous, and the isolation made every challenge feel even greater. To make matters worse, I hadn’t fully prepared for the realities of the trek. Travelling on a tight budget meant I was constantly thinking about money and whether I could afford certain meals while still making it all the way to base camp and back. With limited time, there was no option but to keep moving. After reaching Machhapuchhre Base Camp, I pushed all the way down to Jhinu in a single day before catching a jeep back. Looking back, Annapurna Base Camp was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, but also one of the hardest. This video shows the beauty of the mountains, yet behind every shot was exhaustion and the challenge of continuing when turning back would have been far easier. I hope you enjoy the video. 🇳🇵🏔️
