Iran war: Strait of Hormuz closed by Iran following US military air strikes | FOX 10 Phoenix

The United States has launched more air strikes against Iran following an Iranian attack on a commercial container ship in the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran responded with targeted attacks on United States allies in the Middle East, leading to new reports of explosions inside Iran as relayed by the Reuters news agency. These explosions occurred in the area of Bandar Abbas and Qeshem Island, located on the northwest side of the Strait of Hormuz, targeting hardware used for launching missiles from Iran. United States Central Command confirmed the air strikes, which utilized sea-based and land-based fighter jets, drones, and munitions fired from ships. A total of 140 targets were hit in this latest round of strikes, including missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, and surveillance sites. This military action was triggered after a Cyprus-flagged commercial ship crossing the Strait of Hormuz was hit, causing a fire and engine room damage that left the ship immobile, with one crew member from India currently missing. In response to the developments, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth posted: "Iran made a poor choice, now they pay." Meanwhile, Kuwait is reporting explosions at border crossings and an oil rig, which the Iranian Fars news agency claims targeted United States missile launching capabilities. While Iran declares that the Strait of Hormuz is now closed, the United States maintains that it is an international waterway open to legal trade, guaranteed by the United States Navy.
