UP 4014: A Once-In-A-Lifetime Experience. (With Voiceovers & Other Trains)

This engine is genuinely amazing, but fight me, it’s overrated. We started on June 4th at night, when BNSF 8172 was parked in the Laporte rip track. It was there because NS 267 from 4 days earlier was passing Pinola when the leader, 8172, broke down. So the crew took 8172 to Laporte, and the next day, an NS dash 9 coupled to the abandoned 267 to be rescued. The next day was the day of 4014, we woke up at 5 AM to go to Knox, IN, & we picked up a friend, and immediately after, we saw the Knox local, led by an NS SD60E, & had 3 tank cars. It was A WHOLE HOUR before NS 29A passed, with NS 1230 Birmingham as the 2nd mid dpu. Also to mention it poured until like 5 minutes before it arrived so we almost had to miss it because we didn’t want to become human puddles. After that train, the crowd started to gather at pacific avenue, but at least we weren’t at shield street, and thank the lord we weren’t at argos. The sun came out finally, and after Another hour and a half later, we heard the delightful whistle of 4014, and prepared. As the train was about to come, someone’s car alarm started blaring, sorta ruining the vibe, but it all turned out well with the amazing sounds and sights of the 150 ft long black beauty of 4014.
