Walking Coopers Bayou

Today I'm walking through Coopers Bayou Park in Clearwater, Florida — a peaceful 12-acre park along the shores of Cooper's Bayou. The paved trail circles a small pond lined with bulrush and golden cannas, with mangrove stands connecting out to the bayou and eventually Tampa Bay. On this walk I was lucky enough to spot three pileated woodpeckers — the large, crow-sized woodpeckers with the striking red crests — along with a swamp rabbit, all sharing the same stretch of woods. From there, the trail passes the kayak launch before circling around the pond. This no-talking walking tour lets you experience the sights and sounds of Coopers Bayou Park at your own pace.
