He is currently alone on a massive refrigerated vessel in the port of Dalian, China. He has been living there for 13 months. Essentially abandoned by the vessel's owner, the state-owned company Rosmorport, he has been abandoned to its fate. In the summer of 2017, Rosmorport terminated the lease agreement with Rimsko. By that time, the vessel was already under arrest in the port of Dalian. Rosmorport has failed to send its crew to the vessel, failed to return it to its home port, and has not paid the captain's wages. Lagunov, however, according to the rules and his honor as a captain, has been unable to leave the vessel for over a year.
