Sismo en Junín deja daños en patrimonios turísticos y movilizan ayuda para los damnificados

The 5.1 magnitude earthquake that struck the province of Chupaca, Junín region, left dead, injured, and dozens homeless. It also caused damage to various tourist attractions and cultural heritage sites in the area. According to official reports, three religious sites located in the district of Chongos Bajo sustained damage, prompting authorities to restrict access to these sites as a preventative measure. They also urged the public not to enter the affected areas and requested that tourism companies temporarily suspend visits until the safety of the buildings can be guaranteed. AUTHORITIES IN THE EMERGENCY ZONE In response to the emergency, the President of the Council of Ministers, Luis Arroyo, and the Minister of Defense, Amadeo Flores, traveled to the Junín region to oversee the response efforts and coordinate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the affected families. For its part, the Ministry of the Interior reported that officers from the Peruvian National Police remain in the area conducting search and rescue operations, as well as providing support to those affected, in coordination with other institutions and first response units.
