The Many Faces of AAV-Based Gene Therapy in Parkinsons Disease

This live-streamed educational program will provide clinicians with a focused update on emerging gene-therapy approaches for Parkinson disease (PD). Faculty will review key limitations of current symptomatic therapies and discuss the scientific basis and therapeutic potential of adeno-associated virus (AAV)-based strategies, including correction of pathogenic gene mutations and targeted introduction of genes designed to enhance striatal dopamine tone. The session will also outline critical considerations for true disease modification in PD, with attention to safety, durability, and patient selection. Finally, current clinical trial endpoints and available outcomes from ongoing PD gene-therapy studies will be summarized to guide evidence-based clinical decision-making. Faculty: Michael S.
