Kōshin Taiko performs "Trio" at VJCC's Natsu Matsuri 2026

"Trio" by Grandmaster Daihachi Oguchi Performed at the Venice Japanese Community Center for Summer Festival 2026 This is an arrangement of three foundational taiko pieces, "Hiryu San Dan Gaeshi," "Sawa-ko Bayashi," and "Isami Goma." All were composed in the 1970s by Grandmaster Daihachi Oguchi, who is credited with inventing and spreading the modern style of ensemble taiko drumming you see here, called kumi-daiko. We honor his commitment to spreading taiko around the world and the community spirit of taiko when we play this every year to encourage and give energy to the thousands of runners going up the steepest part of the Los Angeles Marathon. Kōshin Taiko is proud to call ‪@venicejapanesecommunitycenter‬ home! Thank you for the support! *due to technical issues, the first 20 seconds of the piece was not recorded.
