How Nigeria’s Petrol Prices Have Changed Over 27 Years

Dangote Refinery has adjusted its ex-depot petrol prices several times since beginning petrol supply in September 2024, reflecting changing market conditions and industry dynamics. The refinery’s petrol price moved from ₦898 per litre in September 2024 to ₦970 in November, before later adjustments brought prices down, and subsequent revisions followed. Nigeria’s petrol price has fluctuated significantly across administrations, rising from ₦20 per litre in 1999 to between ₦900 and ₦1,000 per litre under the current administration. Oil and Gas Expert, Nick Agule, joins the conversation.
