Inside a Colombian Natural Sugar Factory In The Mountains (PANELA) 🇨🇴

In this video, I travel to the heart of rural Colombia, to the small yet vibrant pueblo of Cocorná, nestled in the lush mountains of Antioquia. Although the countryside is the backbone of the country, providing the food that feeds millions, the people who live and work there are often overlooked and underpaid. During my stay in a rustic mountain cabin surrounded by nature, I take y'all through Cocorná's scenic landscapes and quiet streets. I also visit to a local trapiche, a traditional panela factory where raw sugarcane is transformed into one of Colombia’s most essential products, panela. I break down the entire artisanal process, from cutting the cane to boiling and molding the final blocks. More importantly, I speak with the paneleros themselves, the workers behind this labor-intensive process to learn about their experiences.
