Leigh’s Journey of Recovery Through Innovation at Craig Hospital

Living in Idaho as an environmental scientist and avid mountain biker, Leigh's life changed when he crashed while riding an unfamiliar trail, resulting in a spinal cord injury. When he arrived at Craig Hospital, he faced an uncertain future. During his inpatient neurorehabilitation, Leigh took part in a unique opportunity to participate in research at Craig that explores the impact of electrical stimulation on upper extremity recovery after spinal cord injury. This innovative study seeks to determine how combining stimulation with conventional therapy can enhance movement and recovery outcomes. Through his hard work and the support of his family and Craig care team, Leigh made incredible progress at Craig and saw his participation in research as something that could help others with SCI. “I think it's very important to participate in things like that because, essentially, you're helping people down the road," Leigh shares.
