The AFIM® IGLO-2 is the world’s first efficient moisture and climate zone barrier for freezer rooms and cold stores / cold storages. Whenever the entrance to a cold storage is opened, mist forms in the doorway and much of the cooled air is lost. When combined with conventional strip curtains, this mist causes a dangerous reduction in visibility during transport. Furthermore, moisture can enter the cold storage unhindered, causing snow and ice to form around the doorway. Evaporators lose capacity and require frequent defrosting in order to be able to extract the large amounts of moisture. Slippery floors create hazardous situations and logistical slowdown. Doors have to be closed as quickly as possible in order to counteract these problems, which results in logistical losses and a considerable risk of damage. The IGLO-2, however, erects an invisible, air-based barrier between two climate-controlled zones, which has significant practical and financial advantages. The IGLO-2’s patented technology creates multiple high-pressure air jets which block moisture and heat. When the entrance to the freezer room is opened, cold air will escape the cold climate and warm air will enter the cold storage. This is known as natural heat transfer. The IGLO-2 interrupts the natural heat transfer and functions as an effective barrier against moisture and temperature at the entrance to the cold storage. The IGLO-2 prevents mist formation around the opening and removes the need for cumbersome strip curtains. Moreover, the entryway is kept clean, eliminating snow and ice problems around the door. The evaporators can remain at full capacity and therefore need to be defrosted much less often. The IGLO-2 creates free passage for transport. This not only speeds up internal transport, but also improves safety. The clean floor eliminates the risk of collision damage due to slipperiness and makes work in the cold storage more comfortable.
